I am from a hammock swinging gently
engulfed in blue
a cloudless sky of blue blue blue
where the birds sing and the summer air
opens up my soul.
I am from the comfort of a kayak
on a lake called Love
drifting, drifting, roasting in the sun
where my worries run dry and my thoughts
can be free.
I am from the top car of the ferris wheel
with a smile on my face
in that perfect moment of happiness
where my wonders of the future trickle
into the distance.
I am from the little old church
down the road
with the out-of-tune piano and graduation robes
where I smiled, where I laughed,
and where I cried.
I am from the melody of a wondrous girl
at the edge of a cliff
letting her hopes and dreams slip through her fingers
where she knows she'll never get them back
ever again.
And now, as the leaves turn brown and summer slows to a stop
I realize,
I am from a world of change
where memories are made and time makes way
for new beginnings.
I really love your poem Katie:)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in this poem is, "And now, as the leaves turn brown and summer slows to a stop, I realize, I am from a world of change." It creates a really nice picture in my head. I love this poem!
ReplyDeleteI really like this line specifically: "I am from the comfort of a kayak on a lake called Love". The way you place and choose your words makes your whole poem flow in a very smooth way. Your imagery is also really good. :)
